PPMSLight
PPMS, product productive management system, is the master database of SAP data information. As can be imagined, it is a very complex tool with all information of SAP Products. During my one-year internship and thesis student in SAP, the main task and study are to design a new web-based simplified PPMS and its onboarding tool which gives users the first impression of the tool.

PPMSLight is the web application I was responsible for during my internship in SAP. My tasks included all the design process from user discovery, iteration design to validation. From the beginning to the development stage, there were 3 rounds of user discovery followed by brainstorming the ideas, creating the wireframes, mockups and conducting the usability testing.
The onboarding tool of PPMSLight, including video, guided-tour and inline hinting, is discussed and designed afterward. It is related to the topic of my master thesis: Evaluating onboarding modalities based on user expertise and personality trait.
USER RESEARCH
The user research focused on user interview. The interview started from the very beginning of the projects trying to understand the pain points of the users when using the old application. Later, the feedback collection was done and clustered into different categories to help brainstorm the solutions for every problem.
PROTOTYPING
In the second stage of the design process, we started from paper mockups to lo-fidelity wireframes, hi-fidelity prototypes and the clickable mockups for the usability testing at the end of every design iteration.

USABILITY TESTING
Several usability testings were conducted to validate the interfaces and interaction patterns.
ONBOARDIN TOOL
In my thesis study, I created three onboarding tools with different modalities to test how useful are the tools to help users complete their tasks. Onboarding is important due to the first impression that the application gives to the users.
